How To Add Random RSS Content To Your Site
Most savvy internet marketers will know how important it is to have fresh content added to their sites on a daily basis but the problem sometimes is to find the time and/or content. Adding an RSS feed is a good way to add fresh content to a site, but the problem again is that most of them only get updated on a weekly basis. I have been wracking my brains trying to find a semi- automated way to do this to make my life a little bit easier. The search engines are always looking for fresh content - adding random RSS feeds seemed to be the answer! So I did so some searches on the Internet to see what is available. A search for "add random content to site" sure enough brought up a bevy of links - most of which went to sites that wanted to sell me their products for hundreds of dollars! Having been on the Internet for quite a while I know by now that most of the information that is on sale can most times be found with just a little bit of work. So I refined my searches somewhat and I found a gem that I would like to share with you for?. You guessed it - free! It will take a bit of work from your side to tweak the script a bit, but it's worth it, right? First you will have to head over to: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex17/randomiframe.htm and copy the available java script. This displays a little content box 130x130. Go on, before they decide to start selling it! Paste the script into your favourite editor and make the following changes: To change it to display your content you will have to make the box a little bigger. To achieve that you have to change this piece of code: width=130 height=130 I have mine set to width=500 height=800 but you should change it to fit your content. Play around with it a bit and change the width or height where necessary. If you do not want a frame around your content, change this piece of code: frameborder="1" to frameborder="0 To display your content, you will have to create html pages for it. For now, just create a blank html page, I will show you later where to get the content for it. As you can see, the script calls the pages like this: randomcontent[0]="random1.htm" - change the "random" to whatever you want to call your created html page - e.g. successstory1.htm. You can basically display unlimited pages with this script. To add more pages to display, just add: e.g. randomcontent[4]="random5.htm", randomcontent[5]="random6.htm" etc. You can now add the script to any page that you want to display random content on. To get free rss content to rotate, head on over to http://www.goarticles.com They also have literally thousands of free articles that you can use for fresh content on your site. Add the code for the rss scripts to the blank html pages that you have created (or an article if you so prefer) then upload all your pages to your server. Make sure that the page that you are calling them from (the page with the randomizer java script) and your content pages are in the same directory, otherwise you will have to change the path to the pages in the java script code! If you would like to get more rss feeds, just do a search for "free rss feeds" on any of the search engines. So, there you have it. Randomized rss content for your site without having to pay a cent. You can make it easier for your visitors to subscribe to your RSS feed. With a free and easy to install javascript function you can add the http://www.methodize.org/quicksub/ (QuickSub) feed button to your webpage in just a few minutes. Let me show you just how easy it is.
QuickSub is a javascript mouseover function that produces a list of RSS feed readers that you can use to subscribe to your RSS news feed with one click. You can see it in action on my RSS resource site, just move the mouse over the subscribe link. You should see a list of RSS feed readers. If you click on one of the news reader links it will open up that RSS reader and add this feed to it. You will need the particular news reader installed on your computer for this to work. So for example if your visitor uses SharpReader as their RSS reader then they would click on the Sharpreader link and this would add your feed to your visitors RSS reader.
To use QuickSub on your site you will first need to download the javascript and CSS files from QuickSubs site. The file is compressed so you will need to unzip the file which will leave you with quicksub.css and quicksub.js as well as a sample html file.
Upload the CSS as javascript file to your server. Now you will need to add some code into your web pages. You will need to do this for all of the pages that you wish to use QuickSub on.
Please note that in these examples I have used square brackets instead of angled brackets.
First you need to copy some code to call the CSS file. Add this line with your head tags.

Then copy this code into the body of your page.

You just need to replace the path with the path to you RSS feed and enter you own link text. All is left now is to upload your modified page to your web server and the new QuickSub javascript will be active.

Attract search engine traffic without paying the big bucks
If you want Google, Yahoo and MSN to pay attention to you, blog.
It doesn't have to be a whole new site, just add a directory to your existing site and start blogging. Most blog software solutions are either cheap or free.
And you can find out most basic blog information online for free (really, sometimes just typing your question into Google will do it.) by people who've actually done it. For less than $100, you can build a small library of blog tips and secrets, written by successful business bloggers.
Instead of buying links, get one-way links from blog search engines and directories, as well as getting your RSS feed content displayed at other sites.
Linking is a great way to get search engine attention and click traffic. Some people get links by trading; others by including their links at the end of freely distributed articles. Others pay to be listed, or to get linked.

True, you can post a link to a survey in your newsletter or on your site, but these are not as interactive as the ability for your audience to comment. They will comment, and you can reply to ask them to expand, or clarify. Conversation gets going and before you know it, a bond is formed, a much stronger bond than occurs in a one-way conversation.
Cheaper (and faster) way to start a resource or authority site.

If you're blogging consistently, you have a hub of information collected that will inspire return traffic. You have a collection of links to articles, sites, and tools. You can constantly write up your own opinion editorials on each of these items, as well as fact-based analysis of news and events that can help your audience make better choices.
As blog software matures you can now categorize, and alphabetize your links, and with the ability to ping multiple sources as well as leave trackback links to other sites, you can send your readers through a ring of related, freshly updated information that ultimately leads back to you.
Spend less money on advertising as your blog becomes more popular
I can't promise you that you'll never spend another red cent on advertising costs. However, the amount of free advertising you get from having your blog link or RSS feed listed in dozens of search engines and directories, and popping up in feed readers is not to be underestimated.
You'll probably still want to do some ezine advertising when your new ebook or software release is debuted. But you may not need to buy as much advertising or purchase as often.
Then there is the fact that many newsletters that are also published to RSS feeds have wider reach. I've found that it's worth the extra money to appear in both versions ? ask your favorite publisher for details. For publications that allow this, it's normally only 20% extra
Save money by retaining visitors
You've probably heard a thousand times that it is easier to sell repeatedly to an existing client than it is to find a new one. So how do you get that visitor to come back, and possibly buy again?
A constant stream of new information on a particular topic work is enough to keep people buying a daily newspaper, subscribing to a magazine or viewing a television series.
Frequent updates can work the same way for your site.
